Defining Assignments:
Weighted Grades

| Step 1 |
Open a class. Select
File> Open
and choose a class.

Select
Define > Assignments.
|

The assignment windows will appear.

Select
Add
(or highlight existing assignment and click
Edit
to make changes).

| Step 4 |
In Description, type in your assignment
name.
You may consider including a date with the name of the assignment.
The date will then be printed with the name of the assignment.

In the First Category Link
you need to choose the
correct weighted category
to link to. The drop down menu will show all of your choices.

| Step 6 |
The Score Weight for the assignment
will read 1. This means that the score for the assignment will be
included in the calculation one time.

DO
NOT CLICK THE EXTRA CREDIT BOX.
If you checkmark the extra credit box, the points will be added
to the final grade. Extra credit, as most teachers use it, is placed
into the grade book as an assignment with a maximum value of 0.

| Step 7 |
Select a
due date
if you choose.
Due dates can either be the date assigned or the date due. Due
dates provide you with information linking attendance and the assignment.

| Step 8 |
Max Value obviously is
the maximum points
possible for the
assignment.

Type in the Max Value. This
it the most/maximum points that a student can receive on this
assignment. For example, 10 points.

| Step 9 |
Select
Next
to add another assignment.

| Step 10 |
Repeat the steps above to add
additional assignments.

| Step 11 |
Select “OK”
when you are finished.

The next step will be to
add
the score for each student into the score table.
