Defining Assignments:
Total Points with Subcategories

Open a class. Select
File> Open
and choose a class.

Go to Options and remove the checkmark
next to EasyMode.
(Just click Easy Mode
to uncheck it. You are turning Easy Mode off).

Please note, Easy Mode
must be off every time you add or edit assignments when you use
subcategories.

Select
Define > Assignments.
|

The assignment window will appear.
|

Select
Add
(or highlight existing
assignment and click Edit)
to make changes.

Give the Assignment a
name (hw1, quiz 1
etc.) in the description.
Adding a date to the description can be very helpful when the
assignment name is printed.

In First Category Link,
select the subcategory of your choice
that has a weight of 0. In the example above the link is
Tests/Quizzes.

| Step 7 |
In Second Category Link
select Total Points
which has a weight of 100.

| Step 8 |
In Edit Mode select
Numeric.

DO
NOT CLICK THE EXTRA CREDIT BOX.
If checked, the points will be added to the final grade. Extra
credit, as most teachers use it, is entered into the grade book as
an assignment with a maximum value of 0.

Select a
due date
if you choose.
Due dates can either be the date assigned or the date due. A due
date provides you with information linking attendance and the assignment.

Select the maximum point value,
Max Value
for the assignment.

Breakpoints should be
Streetsboro Breakpoints.

Score Weight is
1.

Mastery level is
75.

Select
Add
to add additional assignments.
Select OK when complete.

The next step will be to
add
the score for each student into the score table.
