Part 3: Sending Email

  • The goal of this tutorial is for you to be able to send an email.

  • While in Web Mail, select New.  In the drop down menu select Message

  • A new, blank, email message will appear.

  • Complete the top portion of the email.

    • To: To is where you type in the email address of the person to whom you are sending the email, the recipient of the email.  Use a semi colon (;) between email addresses.

    • Cc: An address in Cc allows you to send a copy of the email to another individual. This area is optional.

    • Bcc:  Using Bcc enables you to send a copy of the email to an individual that the recipient of the email will not see. It is useful if you do not want everyone to see private addresses.  This area is optional.

    • Subject: The subject is extremely important.  It gives the recipient information about the email itself.  It tells the recipient that it is a safe email to open.  Teachers may require specific information in the subject to help them organize and prioritize the emails they receive.

  • Attachment: The attachment button enables you to attach documents to the email.  Details on attachments are covered in the next section of the tutorial.

  •  The toolbar directly above the body of the email enables you to change font size, font color, text placement, etc.

  • Write the specific information of the email in the body of the email.

  • Review your email carefully.  Press Send to send your Email to the intended recipients.

  • You will NOT see any response from the system that your email has been sent.  If you want to check that your email has been sent, check the Sent Items folder.
