Keywords
-
Students who find it
difficult to find key words for an Internet search can actually
type in a question. The keywords are usually in the question
itself. This works for most students.
-
Choosing key words can
be challenging. For this activity, try combinations of the
following words: email, etiquette, guidelines, rules.
-
Placing quotes around a
group of words will mean that you want to complete the search of
the words together, not apart.
-
Using a comma as a
separator between words indicates that you are looking for sites
where different combinations of the words appear.
-
Also, don’t forget your
Boolean search skills. The addition of the work AND, NOT, or OR
can help you locate the information more efficiently.

-
Skim through the sites
that you locate from the search. Keep track of the ones
that you want to use for the assignment. You can add sites
to your "favorites" to help you keep track of the sites you want
to use.
