Meet Summaries

September 1

On Saturday the Lady Rocket runners competed in the Marlington Invitational. The team placed 17th. Rachel Oravec paced the Rockets in a time of 23:52. Heather Poston, Amanda Groff, Alex Lesak and Linsey Hawkins finish the top five scorers for the team. All 15 runners set a season's best time, congrats ladies. Best of luck this weekend as the team travels to Tiffin.

September 8
On Saturday, the Girls Cross-Country team competed in the Tiffin Carnival. The girls continued their improvement by setting 13 new personal best for the season, including a new career best for Linsey Hawkins, running a time of 24:29. The other Rockets top performers included Kayla Kelly, Gaby Ryczek, Heather Poston and Rachel Oravec. Also setting personal best were Alex Lesak, Skye Bush, Jessica Hess, Kristin Monahan, Angie Nunns, Amanda Oravec, Amanda Groff, and Shawnee Spinks. Good work ladies. The team competes Tuesday at home starting at 4:45. Come support your team.

Spartan Invitational

On Saturday the girls cross-country team competed in the Spartan Invitational. Kayla Kelly, 23:44, just edged Amanda Groff, 23:47, to place 154th and 156th to lead the Rockets. Rachel Oravec, Alex Lesak and Gaby Ryczek ran together to finish the top five Rocket scorers. Also standing out was Senior Jessica Hess who paced herself to a new personal best time. Good job ladies. The team competes at Woodridge on Tuesday. Good luck.

Woodridge/Mogadore

Yesterday the girls cross country team earned a victory over Mogadore and fell to Woodridge. Leading the way for the Rockets was Kayla Kelly with a time of 23:27. The top 7 included Rachel Oravec, Amanda Groff, Gaby Ryczek, Alex Lesak, Heather Poston, and Stephanie Lesher. The team competes again this weekend at Malone. Best of Luck Saturday!

September 22

Saturday the Lady Rockets Cross-Country team competed in the Malone Invitational. Kayla Kelly's strong finish, passing 7 runners up hill, placed her 75th overall in a time of 23:17. Amanda Groff continued her strong freshmen campaign as the team's number 2 runner coming in 94th. Gaby Ryczek turned it up coming in 97th overall and 3rd for the team. Skye Bush turned in a fantastic effort running a new personal best time of 28:06, dropping one minute and 16 seconds. Good job ladies. The team competes again Tuesday at East Canton. September 25

Last night the girls cross-country team competed against PTC rivals Rootstown and East Canton. The Lady Rockets fell to host East Canton 16-39 while beating Rootstown 24-37. This evens the girls overall record to 3-3. Kayla Kelly led the way for Streetsboro finishing 6th in a time of 23:15. Gaby Ryzcek continued her impressive season finishing as the teams number 2 runner in 24:09. Alex Lesak, Rachel Oravec, and Heather Poston finished the top five scorers for the team. Great job ladies. The girls compete again this Saturday in the Woodridge invitational. Good luck ladies.

The SHS boys Cross Country team beat Rootstown and lost to East Canton last night. Chad Trownson was the first Rocket to cross the line with a time of 18:28.

September 29

On Saturday the girls cross-country team compete at the Woodridge Invitational. The team placed 16th out of 20 team scoring 442 points. Kayla Kelly led the team with a 90th overall finish followed by Gaby Ryzcek, Alex Lesak, Stephanie Lesher, and Amanda Groff. The team wraps up PTC action Tuesday at home against Garfield. This is also Senior night for Amanda Oravec and Jessica Hess. Come support the girls for their last home run.

October 2

The Rocket boys won last night against Garfield with a score of 24-33. Chad Trownsen finished first with a run of 17:21, Brett Nola second with a 17:57, and Stan Rocuskie third with a time of 18:06. All three set their career-best marks. Freshman Kyle Willa and Ryan MacMillan rounded out the top 5 for the Rockets with their season-best times.

Last night the girls cross-country team wrapped up their PTC meets on senior night with a narrow victory over Garfield, 29-30. 13 out of the 16 Rocket Runners finished with a new season's best time, including three new career best times from Linsey Hawkins, Gaby Ryzcek and Amanda Oravec. Kayla Kelly paced the team from the start finishing 3rd overall in 21:29. Rachel Oravec, Heather Poston, Stephanie Lesher, and Gaby Ryzcek rounded out the top five finishers for the team. Great job team. The girls compete again this Saturday in the Legends Meet. Best of luck ladies.

Legends Invitational

On Saturday the girls cross-country team competed in the Legends Invitational. The team placed 8th out of 10 teams. Kayla Kelly was the first Rocket to cross the finish line in 22:57 earning her 27th place. Heather Poston, Gaby Ryzcek, Rachel Oravec and Alex Lesak rounded out the other top five runners for the team. The team competes in the PTC meet this Saturday at the Portage County Fairgrounds. Come support your team.

PTC

On Saturday, our girls cross-country team competed in the PTC League meet. The team placed 4th overall scoring 117 points. Kayla Kelly led the team with a 22nd place finish, just under 22 minutes. Gaby Ryzcek, Rachel Oravec, Alex Lesak and Stephanie Lesher were able to pack run finishing 33rd thru 36th. Four new career best times were set by Gaby Ryzcek, Skye Bush, Heather Davidson, and Alex Lesak. Seniors Amanda Oravec and Jessica Hess wrapped up their careers as well, thanks ladies. The team competes again this Saturday in the Northeast Ohio District Meet at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. Good luck.

The Boys Cross Country team placed 3rd in the PTC County division on Saturday behind local powerhouses Woodridge and East Canton. Junior Chad Trownson and Sophomore Brett Nola both received 2nd Team All-PTC Honors while Freshman Tyler Bunch and Sophomore Stan Rocuskie were Honorable Mention. The team heads to the District meet this Saturday... good luck boys!!!!!

Districts

On Saturday the girls cross-country team concluded its season at the Northeast District meet, placing 9th overall. Top five scorers for the team included Kayla Kelly at 42nd, Gaby Ryzcek 49th, Alex Lesak 51st, Heather Poston 54th and Stephanie Lesher 55th. The team would like to thank everyone for the support this season. Special thanks goes to seniors Jessica Hess and Captain Amanda Oravec. Good job this season girls, get ready for the off-season.
